Gesso is a water-based universal primer that is painted onto painting surface to promote a smoother and consistent surface. This allows your paints to be flowing freely through painting surfaces without worrying about the inconsistency of painting surfaces. It is also acid-free, which minimises the effect of the acidity levels of your painting surfaces on your paintings, giving your paintings longer life.

Note - Provides an excellent absorbent surface for paints - Suitable for a variety of surfaces such as: canvas, cardboard and wood - 2 thin coats of gesso is usually recommended for standard usage. Gesso can be applied onto the surface with a brush or palette knife for greater consistency - Painting surfaces may be painted immediately with acrylics and oils once they are dried, which would usually take about 2 hours. Longer time may be needed for heavier applications - The main difference between standard gesso and white texture gesso is that white texture gesso has slightly thicker viscosity, enabling artists to create stronger texture and brush strokes
