Liquitex Professional Modeling Paste 237ml

Liquitex Modeling Paste is an acrylic-based medium made from 100% acrylic polymer and marble dust, designed to build texture, form, and 3D structures on rigid surfaces. It dries to a hard, stone-like, opaque white matte finish that can be sanded, drilled, or carved. The paste can be used alone, tinted with color, or painted after drying, and is compatible with acrylics, oils, watercolors, graphite, and dry pastels while preserving excellent adhesion, durability, and archival quality.

For best results, handle the paste like a lightweight clay and allow some water to evaporate by removing the lid if a thicker consistency is desired. When creating sculptural textures, build up thin layers no thicker than ¼ inch, allowing each layer to dry slowly under loose plastic wrap to minimize shrinkage cracks. As a ground, apply a thin layer to a rigid surface with a knife, trowel, or roller, let it dry, and sand smooth before repeating if necessary. For a more absorbent ground, mix 1 part Liquitex Modeling Paste with 3 parts Liquitex Gesso. It can also be used for papier-mâché by soaking paper in a 50/50 mixture of Modeling Paste and Liquitex Gloss Gel, Matte Gel, or Gloss Heavy Gel.

Flexible Modeling Paste dries with a resilient, flexible finish that resists cracking on canvas and other semi-flexible supports, making it ideal for textured paintings and mixed-media work. In contrast, Modeling Paste dries to a hard, stone-like surface best suited for rigid supports such as wood panels, where it can be sanded, carved, drilled, or sculpted for more substantial 3D effects.
