Liquitex Professional Light Modeling Paste 237ml

Liquitex Light Modeling Paste is a lightweight acrylic medium made from 100% acrylic polymer and marble dust, designed to build heavy texture and 3D forms while keeping overall weight to a minimum. It dries to a hard, opaque white matte finish with minimal shrinkage, making it ideal for larger builds or applications where reducing structural load is important. The paste can be used on its own, tinted with color, or painted after drying, and is compatible with acrylics, oils, watercolors, graphite, and dry pastels while maintaining strong adhesion, durability, and archival quality. It can also be used to add body to paint and create soft pastel-like tints.

For best results, handle it like a lightweight clay and allow some water to evaporate by removing the lid if a thicker consistency is desired. Build sculptural texture in thin layers no thicker than ¼ inch, letting each layer dry fully before adding the next, and cover loosely with plastic wrap during drying to reduce shrinkage cracking. As a ground, apply a thin layer to a rigid surface using a knife, trowel, or roller, then let it dry and sand smooth before repeating if needed. For an absorbent ground, mix 1 part Light Modeling Paste with 3 parts Liquitex Gesso, apply evenly, dry, and sand as necessary. It can also be used for papier-mâché by soaking paper in a 50/50 mixture of Light Modeling Paste and Liquitex Gloss Gel, Matte Gel, or Gloss Heavy Gel.
