Liquitex High Gloss Varnish 118ml

Liquitex High Gloss Varnish seals acrylic artwork with a transparent, high gloss acrylic layer that is breathable, permanent, and helps protect against UV damage. Made from 100% acrylic polymer, it provides an ultra-shiny finish while protecting the surface and resisting dirt retention. It enhances brightness and color saturation, dries clear to a flexible, non-tacky, hard finish, and improves surface durability, making it ideal for artwork that will be shipped or exhibited. It also resists discoloration, including yellowing and fogging caused by humidity, heat, and UV exposure. The varnish appears semi-opaque when wet and dries completely transparent.

For best results, ensure the paint surface is fully dry before varnishing, which may take anywhere from 72 hours to two weeks depending on paint thickness. Work in a well-ventilated, clean, dust-free environment and perform a patch test first, as the varnish is permanent. Stir gently before use and do not thin with water, shake, or over-brush vigorously, as this may create bubbles and a hazy finish. Apply using long, even strokes from top to bottom while moving across the surface, avoiding going back over missed areas; instead, allow the coat to dry before reapplying. Do not use a roller or sponge brush. Apply up to three thin coats, allowing at least 24 hours of drying time between each coat. Once applied, do not attempt to remove the varnish or rework partially dried areas, as this can cause clouding.
