Jo Sonja’s Clear Glaze Medium 250ml

Jo Sonja® Clear Glaze Medium is a matte transparent acrylic glazing medium with several different uses. Use alone or in conjunction with Chroma’s Jo Sonja Artists’ and Background Colors. Apply as a light sealer prior to painting, staining or varnishing or as a barrier coat between layers. Mix with base color to seal as you basecoat. Use as a general painting medium for staining, glazing and other transparent effects.

Note

1. Wood & Sealing
- As Sealer / Barrier Coat: Apply medium coat with clean brush.
- On Raw Wood: Apply undiluted as light sealer.
- For Staining / Pickling: Seal raw wood with 1 coat Clear Glaze Medium.
- Mix 3 parts Clear Glaze Medium + 1 part Retarder or color.
- Apply along wood grain, wipe excess with lint‑free cloth.
- Dry before repeating layers.

2. Painting & Glazing
- Mix with base color to seal while basecoating.
- Use as general medium for transparent effects.
- For glazing/floated color:• Dress brush in Clear Glaze Medium (or mix with Retarder).
- Blend on palette, side‑load with color.
- Apply to soften, deepen, or enhance values.

3. Protective Barrier
- Apply undiluted throughout painting and before varnishing.
- Locks down design, allows corrections without disturbing previous layers.
- Up to 3 coats in 24 hours.
- Hair dryer may speed drying.

4. Coverage
- 1 ml = 188 sq cm
- 1 oz = 6 sq ft

Clear Glaze Medium is mainly for transparent effects and light sealing, while All Purpose Sealer is for strong adhesion and surface preparation. In short: use Clear Glaze Medium when you want glazing, staining, or barrier coats that keep transparency; use All Purpose Sealer when you need durable adhesion on tricky surfaces like metal, glass, or candles.
